A IPL Burn Performed by a Registered Nurse Sparked My Passion

In 2003 the last thing that I thought would happen to me was a medical aesthetic laser burn on my face. My upper check and all around my entire mouth. A Huge Burn. Dark/ Thick. Scab. What I have now is residual hyperpigmentation that I SEE every day. There literally is not one day that goes by that I do not look at myself and think of another new way to make the medical aesthetic industry a safer space to work in.

Since this incident, I successfully practiced as an Aesthetician & Laser Technician, to then partner & own two Medical Spas. Through my laser burn, spa ownership, training, and mentoring. Fundamentally I saw where education was lacking passion and addressing what is missing from education programs today.

Aesthetic Laser Academy & Spa was born. An educational facility that allowed the students the opportunity to grow their passion into a reality. I created a safe space to grow, by offering an open-door policy to students. I have educated thousands of students over the years, and I have seen the same struggles repeat themselves over and over again. Aesthetic schools have not been updated. The entire process seems to outline a “get through the state exam” mentality.

The “burn” is always at the forefront of my mind, I never want anyone I teach to find themselves in a situation where they cannot find or obtain the answer needed to provide safe and effective treatment.

MD Skin Lab was created to assist others in the Industry to have better options than what the “rep” tells you. A personal aesthetic burn by an RN in a Plastic Surgeon’s office, 17 years of clinical practice, and educational, & sales experience in aesthetic and medical aesthetics, have provided me with the resources to effectively save you time & money.
